Your Questions, Answered

  • We’re craftsmen. We care more about what goes into the product you carry than flashy branding or hyped-up marketing. We don’t chase trends. We let the work speak for itself.

We build leather goods the way they used to be made—by hand, in small batches, with no shortcuts and no excuses. Every piece comes out of our Midwest shop built from full-grain leather and time-proven construction, not mass production or throwaway materials.

We’re straight about our materials, clear about where things are made, and relentless about quality. We build gear that works hard, takes a beating, lasts for decades, and looks better the longer you use it. No hype. No fluff. Just honest craftsmanship for people who expect things to be made right.

  • Most imported briefcases are built to hit a price point, not to last. They’re commonly made overseas using “genuine leather,” a vague marketing term that often means heavily corrected split leather—or bonded leather made from glued scraps. To cut costs even further, the leather is shaved paper-thin, stretched over fabric or foam, and lined to disguise how little real leather is actually used. The bag may look good out of the box, but it breaks down quickly under real use.

The hardware tells the same story: thin, cheaply plated imported components that wear, peel, or fail long before the briefcase should.

Our USA-made briefcases cost more because they’re built differently. They use full-grain leather from USA Steerhide, the best hardware we can source, and are made by skilled craftsmen earning fair wages. These bags aren’t designed to last a season—they’re built to last decades.

Here’s the honest truth: our wholesale leather cost alone is four to five times more than what many imported briefcases sell for at retail. If a bag is selling for $50, it likely contains around $10 in total materials. Our hardware alone costs more than that. That difference is what you’re buying when you choose real craftsmanship, real leather, and solid hardware over disposable imports.

  • Yes—every product is made in our small shop in the heart of the Midwest, USA. When a product is labeled “American”—like our American Legacy Belt—it’s made in the USA using 100% U.S.-sourced leather and hardware.

Some products use imported hardware purchased from U.S. suppliers. In those cases, it’s simply to give our customers more options, since the variety of American-made hardware is limited.

Anytime imported components are used, they’re clearly disclosed on the product’s build sheet. No fine print. No games. Just straight talk about how your gear is made.

  • We use full-grain leather for all of our cases, primarily from U.S.-sourced steer hides. Our Hermann Oak and Horween leathers are tanned in the USA. Our Heritage latigo leather is tanned and sourced from a small tannery in Tennessee.

For our belts, we use USA Hermann Oak and Chahin leather. Chahin sources hides from the USA and tans them in Mexico.

Our 1970 and 1972 belts are made from imported water buffalo leather. These were part of our early startup inventory, and we have only a limited quantity remaining. As they no longer align with our USA-focused brand values, they will be discontinued.

  • Full-grain leather is the strongest and most durable leather available because it uses the entire top layer of the hide. It isn’t sanded, buffed, or “corrected,” which means the natural fibers stay intact—giving it superior strength, longevity, and character. Instead of wearing out, full-grain leather develops a rich patina over time, telling the story of how it’s used. It costs more and takes more skill to work with, but it’s the only leather that truly gets better with age and won’t crack or peel.

  • Heavy leather will last a life time or more. The real warranty should apply to the craftsmanship. We offer a no-nonsense 5 year limited warranty. If our product fails due to craftsmanship, we’ll repair it or replace it. You just cover the shipping. READ MORE.

  • You may have noticed—we’re a no-bull kind of company. There’s no such thing as free shipping. Most companies simply bake the highest possible shipping cost into the product price and call it “free.” We’d rather be honest. You pay the actual cost of shipping. If you’re closer to us, you pay less; if you’re farther away, you pay more. Simple. Fair. Transparent.

That said, when you spend over $500 with us, we’ll cover the shipping as a thank-you. Not because shipping is “free,” but because we appreciate the trust you’ve placed in our work.

  • Two-Week Trial
We want you to love what you carry. That’s why we offer a 14-day trial on all standard products. If your item isn’t exactly what you hoped for, just reach out within two weeks of delivery and we’ll help you get an exchange started. Items simply need to be in the same condition as when you received them.

Personalized items can also be returned. Because personalization requires additional work to remove before the item can be resold, a small fee applies: $25 for belts and accessories, and $100 for cases. We’ll always walk you through the process and make it as easy as possible.
