Our Leather
Almost All Our Products Use Full Grain USA Steerhide
Leather is our lifeline. It’s not just what we use—it’s who we are. If we’re going to build the best handcrafted gear on the market, we need the best materials out there. That’s why we use full grain steerhide from top-tier tanneries in the USA, Italy, and Mexico. It costs more than top grain or so-called “genuine” leather—but when you back your products with a 15-year warranty, cutting corners isn’t an option.
Our Signature leather is a dark brown full grain Latigo, tanned right here in the USA. Latigo is used in saddlery for one reason: it’s tough as hell. The Latigo strap is what holds a saddle to a 1,200-pound animal flying across a field at full gallop. It takes a beating from weather, sweat, and grit—and keeps doing its job. That’s the kind of reliability we build into every product. We use our Signature leather for cases, luggage and small products.
Another option for our cases, is world famous Horweeen, full grain, vegetable tanned leather. Horween’s one of the oldest and most respected tanneries in the country. Their Derby leather is softer and more scratch-resistant, while Dublin has more structure and develops a killer patina with wear. If you want a case that tells a story, Dublin is as good as it gets.
Our belts are cut from five different leathers, all from premium tanneries like Chahin and Hermann Oak—each chosen with purpose. Bridle leather is a touch more refined, Harness is built for everyday use, Latigo balances strength and light weight, and Saddle leather is our go-to for heavy-duty work belts.
The only exception? Our Crazy Horse belts. They’re made from buffalo leather, lighter in weight, and built more for style. We cap the warranty at 5 years and price them accordingly. Still handcrafted, still solid hardware—just built for it unique antique finish that customers love.
